New Opportunities for Learning!

I'm excited to announce we're launching a new service for our pet professional colleagues: Weekly Case Discussions.



I've played around with paid webinars and developing online courses over the last couple of years and I've run into a couple issues here and there. I love talking about behavior and educating others, but I'm not the best at putting together presentations in a timely manner. Finally, I thought having something of a weekly discussion group would be a decent middle ground. I don't need to be creative with content but still provide community outreach, my colleagues can get some help on specific, real life cases, and I get some shameless advertising so more families know how I can help them. It's a win-win-win.


How does this work?


Well, you can join as a Contributor or a Spectator.


Contributors submit cases (more on that in a second) and are selected to join the webinar as an active participant. They can present their case, ask questions, answer my questions, etc. We go through the case step-by-step, I talk through my thoughts and assessment, then we put together a tentative therapy plan. The Contributor can then take that information back to their client.


Spectators are just what they sound like: they can listen in and learn about the case, but not actively participate in the discussion. Their microphones and videos will be turned off from the get go. They will, however, be able to submit questions or observation using the chat function. I cannot, however, guarantee that I'll answer every question, though I'll do my best.



As a quick note: these webinars are not designed for the general public. I will have a basic screening process to ensure people that are registering as Spectators are pet professionals only. I'll probably organize more client-based webinars soon, but this isn't it.



How do I submit a case?


First, the following documents need to be submitted by the Saturday before the next webinar. If it comes in on Sunday, it can be considered for the next Tuesday, but not the upcoming one.


Required documents:

  • Case Submission Form

    • This is completed by the Contributor. It's just a way for me to track what submissions should be coming in that week. You'll provide your basic information, the pet's information, and some brief information about the case.

    • Once you complete this form, you'll receive a confirmation email with information you can then provide to the pet owner.

  • Patient Medical Records

    • Behavioral medicine is still medicine. I need access to their medical records in order to develop a full picture of what's happening with this case. I don't have the luxury of meeting the pet in person, so the more data I can gather, the better.

    • If you are a professional outside of the veterinary community, you will need to contact the veterinary practice directly and request the patient's medical records be emailed to me.

    • Have records sent to contact@mindfulmentorbehavior.com

  • Behavioral Questionnaire (DOG) (CAT)

    • This document needs to be completed by the PET OWNER. It should not be done by the Contributor. This ensures that I have thorough and accurate information about the case.

    • The form also has a section for Consent to Use Medical Information for Professional Development that needs to be signed by the pet owner.


Once everything is submitted for the week, I will select ONE case to discuss that Tuesday. If there are multiple cases submitted, that means there is no guarantee yours will be selected. You are welcome to submit the case again the following week, just make sure you let me know you'd like it to be considered.

Other Considerations

  1. Yes, you can submit your own pet for consideration. If anything, pet professionals tend to have the weirdest, most unlucky pets anyway. It'll make for good content.

  2. No, I won't be providing any specific documentation. My job is to talk about the case. You as the provider are responsible for transcribing and educating your client.

  3. You will, however, have access to my library of client resources. You are welcome to share any of that content with your pet owner.

  4. If needed, you can always refer your client so they can schedule a consultation with me directly.

  5. Be responsible with this information. Don't share private information with others, don't try to sell my content, don't record my webinars, don't ruin a good thing for everyone else. Its already free. If your coworker can't be bothered to register, they don't get a video recording.
